The Beautiful yet dangerous Blizzaster (Snow storm 2011)

This was one incredibly intense storm!  And on February 1st, a few hours before the snow storm hit Milwaukee my husband and I ventured to the Lake.  We witnessed some amazing waves, snow drifting, and felt 40MPH winds that seriously made my hands go numb.  Before I couldn’t use my finger anymore to hit the shutter I captured these photos.

I wish I had some photographs to share of the actual blizzard in action, but I stayed in doors.;-) But, Some of the best images I have seen online can be seen here.

The Aftermath on our streets.On our SnowDay some drift jumping took place!

Here is a little video that my hubby edited of  them ‘drift jumping’.

____Update ____

A few days after the snow storm I went back to the Lake with Nick Cavalier to do some test shoots for a future video shoot that we will be doing for Brian Mackey. Here are some fun overly white snow shots that were taken today.

BHLDN

Has anyone heard of BHLDN?

It is Anthropologie‘s wedding line, which will debut on February 14, 2011.  BHLDN will become the sixth brand to join the URBN family.  Enjoy! It is simply going to be nothing short of gorgeous.

I am filled with anticipation and excitement for this site to go public.  As it too would be a dream come true to photograph with Urban Outfitters Inc. and capture these femininely brilliant gowns for BHLDN.  And I am sure other’s in the wedding industry are on the same page as me on that one. But, for now I will just appreciate these lovely images that show off how gorgeous this ‘new line’ is going to be.

“Following in the tradition of Anthropologie, BHLDN puts emphasis on not just apparel, but the imagination and detail of every element that makes up a wedding. Decorations will round out the collection later in the year, encompassing varied interests and themes. BHLDN will carry everything from cake toppers and lanterns, to lovely DIY-type items that are already made, as well as more aspirational items like candelabras and mouth-blown glassware.”

All I can say for now is ‘Beholden’.

Season’s Greetings w/Delphine {Philly}

Now that the holidays are coming to an end I wanted to post a little blog sharing what I did with my time over the holiday’s.  In return if you would like to comment and share what you did, I would be glad to read about it.

This year was filled with lots of family time!  And this holiday season was no different.  My Christmas began with lots of cookie baking which is a very important family tradition.  I literarily spent a good week in my kitchen preparing Tot-Tots, Poppyseed cookies, Pizzelles, Chocolate Chip Oatmeal Nut cookies, and ginger cookies.Once the bake-goods were completed I begin to enjoy the snow outside and fun xmas gift wrapping.  Which I will admit, I love to wrap presents!  Once we left our house in Milwaukee it felt like we hadn’t returned till after the New Year.  My husband and I started in Beloit (where my In-Laws live) and enjoyed their traditional tree decorating party.  Which is a very special tradition that I have grown to love more than Christmas day with them.  Had a pit stop in Chicago for our ‘Friends-Mas’ Christmas party that was hosted at Whitney and Dustin’s new apartment.  And then back to Beloit for Christmas Day with the family.

On December 29th we flew back east  to have xmas morning with my side of the family.  I was particularly excited for this visit because it was my nieces 1st Christmas!  I also managed to have several mini-photoshoots with her…and that is what I have chosen to share for the majority of this post.  With that being said, I hope you enjoy adorable babies and big eyes & cheeks.

After a lovely xmas morning (celebrated on NewYears Eve morning) at my Mom’s house we went to Philly to spend New Year’s Day in the city.  Besides continuing my little obsession with taking photographs of Del we got the opportunity to enjoy the Mummers Parade. I would like to add that I have never experienced anything like it. City Love experiences.

Monday, 3rd of January we met up with my Older Brother, Sister-in-Law and miss Del for one last meal with my Mom before our flight and said goodbye to the City of Brotherly Love until we return again.So, I am leaving all of you with one last adorable photo and wishing all a Happy New Year that is filled with joy, love, adventure, and good health.

New Orleans

My good friend Jess and I had a recent opportunity to escaped for a little 4 day trip to New Orleans (thanks to travelzoo deals).  So of course we took it!

Jess is an incredibly hard working mother with an amazing little family.  As a full time Mom, Jess doesn’t get many opportunities to take trips like this.

Plus, she invited me along for this little vacation in which I was very grateful for.  It was a win- win for me because I got to spend some quality time with my good friend and take some travel photo’s for me to share with all of you.:-)

So, during our little stay we had an amazing time exploring the city of New Orleans and made sure to see all the things that were musts for a first time visit.

Gator time!

Visiting the swamps was one of the best parts of our trip. We did a tour with Honey Island in Slidell, LA. The swamps were so beautiful and peaceful.  It was so hard to actually capture the beauty of this place… but I did my best (even used my iphone for a couple of shots).

Before our goodbyes we had some last minuet stops that included the Market, Ferry ride, and seeing christmas decorations in the lobby of the Roosevelt hotel.

Video Shoot {TheFelixCulpa}

I recently got to experience what it is like to be apart of a video shoot.  This is the first chance I’ve had to dabble with the video capabilities on my camera, and after a very long & cold day I was left with some really great imagery from the shoot.

My husband’s band, The Felix Culpa, were working on their music video for “Our Holy Ghosts” with Nick Cavalier when unexpectedly Nick needed some extra help on the second day of shooting.  Thankfully I was able to provide some camera equipment and step in and assist Nick for all the camera B responsibilities.  In return my fingers and toes froze from being outside all day- but we got some amazing shots for the video, and I am truly honored that I had the opportunity to be apart of this project.  Everyone involved did an amazing job contributing to the video and now we are left waiting with anticipation while Nick works his magic editing all the shots from the weekend shoot.

Until “Our Holy Ghosts” is done, here are some stills I took in between filming…  my little teaser to you.
